A bold confession has been made by former Bangladesh cricket captain, Shakib Al Hasan, regarding his controversial bowling action suspension. In a recent podcast interview, Shakib revealed the truth behind his illegal bowling action during his county stint with Surrey, leaving no stone unturned.
"I did it intentionally, to an extent," Shakib admitted, referring to the incident that occurred almost a year ago. "The workload was immense; I had just come off back-to-back Tests in Pakistan and then straight into a four-day match. I was exhausted, and it showed in my bowling action."
The left-arm spinner's action was reported during a County Championship match against Somerset, where he bowled an incredible 70 overs, a feat he had never achieved in his entire Test career. An independent assessment later confirmed the illegality of his action, leading to an automatic suspension from ECB-sanctioned competitions, and subsequently, international cricket as well.
