Yen Tawanda Dhliwayo, a 43-year-old man, allegedly posed as a Be Forward agent, a trusted vehicle importer, and convinced Bei Mandishona Komborayi, a 25-year-old, to part with a substantial sum of money. Komborayi, seeking to import a Nissan Caravan NV350, was referred to Dhliwayo, who claimed to have the expertise and connections to make the transaction happen.
But here's where it gets controversial: Dhliwayo allegedly misrepresented his credentials, leading Komborayi to believe he was dealing with a legitimate agent. In reality, Dhliwayo lacked the necessary authorization and capacity to import the vehicle, as he later failed to deliver on his promises.
Komborayi paid a hefty sum of US$13,666.00, inclusive of duties and transportation costs, with the expectation of receiving his new vehicle by August 2025. However, despite receiving the full payment, Dhliwayo never delivered the car.
Komborayi, sensing something amiss, made multiple follow-ups, only to be met with excuses and, eventually, evasion. Left with no choice, he filed a police report, and Dhliwayo now faces charges of fraud. The total loss amounts to the entire payment made, with no recovery.
