But here's where it gets controversial: his 2025 performance was a stark contrast.
Last season, Marquez struggled, posting a 3-16 record with a 6.70 ERA and a 1.710 WHIP in 26 games. His strikeout numbers also took a hit, with only 83 strikeouts in 126 1/3 innings. And this is the part most people miss: advanced metrics paint an even more concerning picture. He ranked in the bottom five percentile in several key pitching categories, including pitching run value, fastball run value, and strikeout percentage.
